As luck would have it for a bored child in a boring grade school, I would sometimes get plucked out of classes by my mother and we would cross the George Washington Bridge and go to the Met or Moma. She showed me Van Gogh and i could see the scene like it was yesterday. I painted this still life of sunflowers with details of my own very different mothering life as the support structure. A snapshot taken and held as a memory of a bath already gone, the pail and Wonder Woman figurine signs of play and health and a very normal childhood.
Mounted and framed fancily
11×14 / Oil on collage
